A Photographer of Note
Being in the marketing and tourism industry, we at SMM-Solutions are always looking for those magical, take my breath away, I want to be there type of pictures. The cliched phrase that "pictures tell a thousand words" is something we believe strongly in. In Tourism we use pictures more than words to get potential guests excited and interested.
The problem lies in the fact that pictures are never a true reflection of what the location, destination hotel etc are. Either the photographs are enhanced to a point where it no longer displays truth or the photographer struggles to capture the essence as closely to the truth as possible. More often than not, we find that phots's do not give the location justice. You just have to go there! The real thing is better. However, when selling a hotel, destination, scenery you need pictures. Subsequently, our mission is always to find the best pictures that will make you want to go there.
We recently got to know Anton de Beer, a "all rounder" photographer who has taken many pictures for Magazines, Jewellery Companies, Guest Houses and the spectacular Madame Zingara. We invited him to experience Hog Hollow Country Lodge and Villa, situated in the Crags of Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. As a gift to us, we did not even ask for anything in return, he made a few pictures which made us say "WOW, he is so close to the truth we can smell Hog Hollow".
Anton uses a technique called HDR photography, which is, in a layman's terms, taking mutliple, different exposures of a high contrast subject and combining them in a program that mergese them into one. This eliminates the need to use photographic lighting... thus the pictures are very close to the way the human eye perceives a scene... a natural look.
